SIBERIAN
History
The Siberian is a natural breed native to Russia, with a recorded history that stretches back many centuries. Shaped by the harsh climate of its homeland, it developed a strong, muscular build and a dense, weather-resistant coat suited to cold conditions.
Siberian cats have long been part of Russian life and culture, valued for their intelligence, adaptability, and close relationship with people. Today, the breed is widely regarded as one of Russia’s most distinctive native cats.
The Neva Masquerade shares the same origins and essential characteristics as the Siberian, while being distinguished by its colorpoint pattern and blue eyes. Within FIFe, it is recognized as the Siberian’s sister breed.
Siberians are often associated with lower levels of the Fel d 1 allergen in some individuals. However, no cat breed can be considered completely hypoallergenic, and allergen levels and individual reactions can vary considerably. Anyone with cat allergies should therefore spend time with the cat before making a decision.
Standard

Head: slightly rounded and trapezoidal, with pronounced cheekbones and a harmonious profile.

Nose: medium in length, broad, and without a pronounced stop.

Ears: medium-sized, broad at the base, well spaced, and with characteristic tufts of fur.

Eyes: large, slightly oval, and expressive. All eye colors are accepted, provided they are in harmony with the coat.

Body: strong, muscular, and well proportioned, with a broad chest, solid bone structure, and characteristic tufts of fur between the toes.

Tail: long, bushy, and well proportioned, completely covered with a thick coat.

Coat: semi-long, dense, and water-resistant, with a rich undercoat that varies with the seasons. In winter, it develops a full ruff around the neck and chest.
All colors and varieties are accepted, with the exception of chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, and fawn, which are reserved for other breeding lines.
Character
The Siberian is a gentle, affectionate, and devoted companion that forms strong bonds with its family. Sociable and people-oriented, it enjoys being part of everyday family life without being overly demanding.
Intelligent, curious, and well balanced, the Siberian is known for its playful nature, which often remains throughout adulthood. It loves exploring, climbing, and interacting with its surroundings, always driven by its natural curiosity.
Although it may form a particularly strong bond with one person, it remains affectionate and trusting with the whole family. Despite its sociable personality, the Siberian also retains a confident sense of independence and adapts easily to home life and new routines.
Its intelligence and adaptability make it a quick learner, while its affectionate yet independent nature gives the Siberian a beautifully balanced temperament.
