NEVA MASQUERADE

History

The Siberian is a natural breed native to Russia, with a history that stretches back centuries. Shaped by the harsh climate of its homeland, it developed a strong, muscular build and a dense, weather-resistant coat that allowed it to adapt to cold and demanding conditions.

References to Siberian cats in Russia date back many centuries, while modern breeding programs later helped establish the characteristics and standards of the breed internationally.

The Neva Masquerade shares the same origins and distinctive characteristics as the Siberian, while being distinguished by its colorpoint pattern and striking blue eyes. Within FIFe, it is recognized as a separate sister breed of the Siberian.

Siberian and Neva Masquerade cats are sometimes associated with lower levels of the Fel d 1 allergen in certain individuals. However, no cat breed is completely hypoallergenic, and sensitivity can vary greatly from person to person. For anyone with cat allergies, spending time with the cat before welcoming one into the family is always recommended.

Character

The Neva Masquerade is a gentle, affectionate, and deeply sociable cat, known for forming strong bonds with its family. Always eager to be part of everyday life, it loves both receiving and giving affection, often seeking the company of the people it trusts most.

Despite its calm and gentle nature, the Neva Masquerade is also playful, curious, and intelligent. A ball, a piece of yarn, or anything that sparks its interest can quickly become an invitation to play. More than simply a pet, it often becomes a true member of the family, offering companionship, affection, and a reassuring presence.

Although it may develop a particularly strong bond with one person, it remains loving and sociable with the entire family. Independent and quick to learn from an early age, it generally adapts easily to household routines and new environments.

When it comes to food, individual preferences may vary, but the breed usually adapts well to a balanced diet suited to its age, health, and lifestyle.
